Hi Everyone! As you may or may not have known, I am a New York resident, and I have had the Super Bowl on my mind all week. On Monday, I discussed the song The Champ by Nelly to inspire us all to become financial champions. Then I shared the game week routine of an NFL player to help us figure out the best way to become financial champions. On Friday, I shared my favorite Super Bowl commercials as well as ideas for a Super Bowl party for 8 for less than $60.Who Inspired Me This Week

  1. Grayson at the Debt Round Up truly had the post of the week for me when he shared his Jeep experiment project. I speak to clients all the time about viewing debt as a strategic part of their overall plan rather than an enemy, and he gave a great example of how debt can be strategic.
  2. Holly at Club Thrifty announced that she was too cheap to go to Disney. And as a parent who has fallen for the expensive Disney trap, I fully support her view point and encourage her to keep up with the Disney ban.
  3. Cat from Budget Blonde shared the start up costs of owning a pet on Young Adult Money. As someone who just experienced the joys and pains of new pet ownership, I understand the importance of planning for a new addition to the family whether furry or not. :-)
  4. John at Frugal Rules posed the question about being too late to the game with stock market investing. I have had to counsel many clients through similar fears, and at the end of the day, in my opinion, if you are a long-term investor, it is never too late.
  5. One of the best things I have found about blogging, is the connections you make with other bloggers. Despite the fact that we have not met personally, I feel connected with numerous bloggers, and embrace the connections. It makes the world feel smaller and more enjoyable. Reading Laurie at the Frugal Farmer's blog this week about short sightedness really hit home and really made me feel connected to her in a special way.
  6. Speaking of connections, not only did I find out that Erin at Broke Millennial almost went to my alma mater, but she shared some great sites and tips for controlling college expenses which every parent/high school kid needs to know.
  7. John from Frugal Rules guest posted on Budgets Are Sexy about budget black holes. I am constantly working on mine, which is dating my hub, but it is absolutely important to be aware of these.

Also, a very special thank you to the Carnival of Financial Planning for including me this week. I hope everyone enjoys either the game or the commercials or both on Sunday. Next week, I will be blogging about Thrift Shopping (what, what, what) :-) and discussing how to manage your shopping as part of getting financially fit.
